All about Autumn πŸ‚πŸπŸŒΏπŸ»πŸŽƒ

30th Oct 2024

What a busy month we have had in Reception!

From painting, to planting, to pumpkin carving it’s been all go!

As the leaves fall and change colour this autumn the children identified both light and dark coloured leaves outdoors. The children explored mixing primary colours and made new colours such as orange (for their pumpkins paintings) and purple to make the first sound of their name.

Our mud kitchen was never empty from making onion soup (with onions dug up from our raised bed) and pumpkin soup from the carvings. We were very busy digging the raised garden bed near our kitchen, so that we can sow and plant bulbs next term that will be ready for Spring.

When carving the pumpkins the children were encouraged to count the pumpkin seeds, as we focused on counting from 1-10 this term.

The Reception class have loved reading “The Gruffalo” this half term and focused on his fierce but friendly features. They loved acting out the story, and some even painting his orange eyes and purple prickles all over his back!
The children were also very busy making magic potions outdoors, with bubbles, eyeballs and colours added in too.

Last but not least we finished with Fancy Dress and Freddy Fitness. What a way to end a fabulous half term with singing, dancing and partying!
