Snowy Spring in Reception Class
Building, cleaning, picking up leaves and litter, planting, digging, brushing, watering, working together... the children in Reception Class do not sit about! For the children in Reception Class it is all about the 'process not the outcome.' The children are always moving and making an impact! Our outdoor environment is definitely 'the third teacher.' The educators of Reggio Emilia call the environment the “third teacher” because it “speaks to children about what they can do, how and where they can do it and how they can work together” (Paiman & Terrani, 1998)
Our environment is evolving thanks to a team effort. We received funding from 'Live Here, Love Here.' A MASSIVE thank you to Davy (Men's Shed) for what he has created and is still creating for us, Claire Tierney (parent) for donating our new crates and Brenda McCrory (parent and Asda) for donating seeds and compost and to John our caretaker for our new paths! Thank you to the children for bringing the 'happy' to Happy Hill!
